Locally called as Intercity Express it starts from Surat at 4 PM and reaches Bandra Terminus in Mumbai at 8:30 PM. Total duration of journey is 4 hr 30 minutes and has halts at Navsari, Bilimora, Valsad, Vapi, Boisar, Virar, Borivali, Andheri, Bandra Terminus.

As there are very less to no trains between 12 PM to 10 PM from Surat to Mumbai, this train becomes a crucial life-line train and often is seen to be over-boarded during weekends. This train has CC and 2S seating only, out of which 9 GEN 2S coaches are available, which is why ticket counter is crowded from 3PM to 4PM.

Surat – Mumbai Central Flying Ranee Superfast Express

Surat – Mumbai Central Flying Ranee Superfast Express train number 12922 runs between Surat – Mumbai Central everyday. Flying Ranee leaves Surat at 05:25 AM and reaches Mumbai Central at 10:10 AM, with total travel duration of 4hr 45 minutes. The return journey is at 5:55 PM from Mumbai Central, which reaches Surat at 10:35 PM. This is another life-line train that is used by many commuters between Surat-Mumbai route. Often the train is crowded by early morning office goers, students, businessmen, vegetable vendors and it is used to return as well in the evening hours.

Even though this train is not one of the fastest on this route, it does cater to the maximum demand in all the intermediate stations. Other alternatives to this train are Suryanagari Express, Kutch Express, Double-Decker.
