Going down the memory lanes

Take a minute away from the hustle of life and sit down. Try to relax your nerves and feel calm. Now say to yourself, you are interesting and there is more to you than meets the eye.

Think about that time you went to school for the first time. The times when you won’t go walking with your tiny little legs carrying heavy bag. Sitting in the class with full of chattering, crying and shouting kids you are in your own little world. Until you grow up you don’t realize it’s always going to be so. You will be placed with a group of people with a similar agenda and you must work your way through to fulfill the agenda.

Similarly think about all those little things about you, your childhood, friends, the places you have been to, the times you got hurt or felt happy, things you liked and the food you ate. Find out which are very significant memories that are etched in your mind. When you saw a lion for the first time, may be in a zoo or a safari or in the wild. First time you been to a concert. Similarly try to talk to some of your friends and family members about old times and make it a habit to do so every few weeks. Look at the albums you have in your closet with all those photographs taken from Kodak or Cannon cameras containing the negatives.

Indulge in the activity with your closed ones and cherish the moments. Recreate those memories and relive those moments.

Are we humans to be self-sufficient or coexisting or dependent ?

One thought – a lion kept in zoo is no more aggressive and gets it’s food on time without much efforts

Does it make lion less enabled for the wild ?

Same way a grown human must fend for self or be provided

If provided does that make them any less capable to deal with the nuances of life

And if not so is it meant to be togetherness and domestication as we live in social structure

But if then so, are we actually still in the process of looking out for each other as in the wild,

Since now the threat is not always equally applicable to all unless it’s a global pandemic

Have we come to a loophole ?

Resilience

What can you teach someone from a young age that can help them for the rest of their life ?

Answer: Resilience !

Resilience the ability to keep going on even when it seems to have a very sleek chance. It may seem similar to stubbornness and ignorance to go on, but has got more layers to it.

Resilience can be developed and can be an ongoing process to improve. By going through various challenging situations and getting exposed to certain circumstances, one can learnt to be resilient.

It may seem difficult at the start, but by slowing making a move it becomes clear that by continuous effort more can be achieved or delivered.

When everything is going well, it can become easier to do something more and things seem possible within the reach. But when things aren’t going well, it becomes difficult to continue have a flow and things seem to far to be fetched. During those times, it is the amount of Resilience one shows along with concentrated efforts and focus that make the ends meet.

Hence if you can teach someone one of the fundamental qualities that can help them for the rest of their life – teach them RESILIENCE !

Cheers and warm wishes for winter.

Understanding scope of Science with the help of Cricket

Correlation

Most of us understand things in life when we look around for examples. Some things are easier to be understood when correlated with everyday things. One such correlation as an example to understand the scope of Science can be found in Cricket.

The game of Cricket!

Cricket is a game of ball, bat and wickets. It is a game in which a bowler bowls a ball to a batsman playing at other end of pitch trying to defend or attack the ball while saving his wicket. And there are other players who are fielding in the ground. And so many other aspects to it regarding the rules and regulations as well as the nomenclature.

Scope of Cricket

However cricket is played at various levels such as gully cricket, box cricket, in a ground and in a stadium. As well as various formats like T20, ODI and Test. In each format the number of overs are different and the strategy of game differs. As well as where it is played, the context of the game changes. However fundamental of the game remains the same. A batsman playing against a ball bowled by the bowler and trying to score runs.

In gully cricket it may be considered out if one hits the ball hard enough or in the sky beyond limits considering it may hit someone or break someone’s window glass. Whereas the same stroke with power would fetch one a boundary or a sixer in a stadium. In the context of the game and the situation the norms and expectations are changed.

Basic Science

Now let’s take the same stuff into Science. When one tries to understand the concepts of science like Light, Atoms, Energy, Plants, Human body systems and so on, at the school level, they are expected to gain basic understanding of the concepts. That may include, not limited to, the definitions, descriptions, examples and understanding the whats. Sometimes it includes the why and how of a concept in a simpler way without going into details, just like the gully cricket.

The same concept can be stretched on to understand in detail at college level, research level and some questions remain unanswered by science till date. We may reach to the closer approximation or explanation of something but we cannot affirm the confirmation of many things. Science certainly can explain and reproduce many events completely but some remain to be puzzled yet.

When any particular concept or topic is taken up in detail, it starts to behave similar to an international match in an championship event. It has many facets to it and everything is almost dynamic. So what should be the approach to learn Science. What is the simplest explanation of Science like that of cricket.

Approach to Science!

To be good at Science and to embrace it completely one must continue to be curious, be inquisitive to understand something well, ask questions, observe things acutely and connect all the information they have absorbed and if possible conduct experiments or further observation to base their understanding on firm provable and reproduceable facts and experiments.

Growth in Science

Often there may be no direct answers to the simple questions one may have at early age in school to the questions like why there are thunderstorms, how does it rain exactly, how do plants grow, why there are only 7 colors in a rainbow and many other things. Even though we may explain things in a simpler way by introducing the concepts like photosynthesis, refraction, precipitation and many other at early stage. Mere definitions and name should not be considered to be the final conclusion of something. By asking further questions one may learn more and giving rise to even more questions. In the quench to understand something a new discovery may await us. That’s how Science grows.

An example makes is easier to understand.

But all be said, within the scope of the game you must restrict yourself from playing shots in the air in gully cricket and hit harder in stadium. Same way one must learn to be flexible yet firm to understand and immerse in Science.

Snake Catcher | Snake Rescue in Surat

Today early morning cleaning staff was going about the errand in the society as usual, when they spotted a snake in the compound. They called in the Supervisor and informed the community via online message to avoid going towards the compound corner. They started making noise when I went to see.

Snake had made it’s way into the compound via the trees overhanging on the wall. In the backyard there are many trees and a waterhole. Snake used to roam about in that place usually in monsoon. They tried to contact anyone who would help rescue the snake. After about 10-15 minutes they didn’t seem to be able to find any way out.

I stepped in to avoid anyone taking wrong action against the snake. I made some calls to the animal rescue teams and one of them told they will find someone in our area and update. After 10 minutes I got a call from one of the nature volunteer and he asked for address. They reached in about 15 minutes.

The snake had hidden behind some steel planks near the wall. We waited around to see if the snake didn’t escape anywhere. Once they came in, they asked for the person who saw it. Asked for the size and colour. First plank was removed and nothing seen. People were doubting if it had left from somewhere. After removing the second one, snake jumped right out it and started to crawl ahead.

One of the volunteer just tried to hold it but it went pass by. Another volunteer held it from the tail and slowly started to let it flow. Within a minute he got good control on it and it was moving freely. Meanwhile they asked for pillow cover and one of the occupant provided them. They let the snake slip into the pillow cover and tied it properly. They just left after that.

Few people resort to hurting the snake, which is actually not required.

Whenever you spot a snake or someone around you spots any snake, try to remain calm and inform animal rescue team immediately. Do not hurt or overcrowd the place to avoid any accident. Provide all details clearly about the snake, location and keep a watch on the snake.

To call Snake rescue team in Surat try below organization as they are doing commendable work :
