Poetry : Love Poems from Taj Mahal

Love is not when everything is going according to your plan

Love is when everything seems to be dark and you are in the middle of nowhere and it is raining heavily, you smile thinking about her how it makes all the difference

Because love is not about just sharing your money, bed, luxury or your best

Love is about uniting, developing, dissolving, caring, falling, rising, shining, evolving and being together even when all the odds are against you.

It’s about holding that hand even when the world seems to be coming down on you and you know next moment you might be a history yet you continue to hold because that’s how you want your history to be written, with her, in life and after life and everything in between !

~ BHANU (Influence on visiting The Taj Mahal)

Poetry : Invictus by William Ernest

Out of the night that covers me,
      Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
      I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
      My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
      Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
      Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
      How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
      I am the captain of my soul.

WILLIAM ERNEST

Poetry : The Will To Win by Berton Braley

If you want a thing bad enough
To go out and fight for it,
Work day and night for it,
Give up your time and your peace and
your sleep for it

If only desire of it
Makes you quite mad enough
Never to tire of it,
Makes you hold all other things tawdry
and cheap for it

If life seems all empty and useless without it
And all that you scheme and you dream is about it,

If gladly you’ll sweat for it,
Fret for it, Plan for it,
Lose all your terror of God or man for it,

If you’ll simply go after that thing that you want.
With all your capacity,
Strength and sagacity,
Faith, hope and confidence, stern pertinacity,

If neither cold poverty, famished and gaunt,
Nor sickness nor pain
Of body or brain
Can turn you away from the thing that you want,

If dogged and grim you besiege and beset it,
You’ll get it!

Poetry : Her Inner Light by diliniwijesinghe

She hides herself from this cruel world,
The cold wind of rejections
The deceitful drops of rain
Just as every day; make her feel useless;

All she seeks for a glimpse of sunshine,
Just to bloom from this misery
Oh! Suddenly saw a golden ray of sunshine,
Through those gloomy clouds, all so glittery

She thought to herself for a while,
Looking at the clouds; the golden rays within
Though she hasn’t realized before,
The light has always been within

Even on a darkest day,
Just as a sunflower finds sunlight,
She lifted her darkened soul up,
Turning her soul to the inner light!!

Poetry : Start where you stand by Berton Braley

Start where you stand and never mind the past,
The past won’t help you in beginning new,
If you have left it all behind at last
Why, that’s enough, you’re done with it, you’re through;
This is another chapter in the book,
This is another race that you have planned,
Don’t give the vanished days a backward look,
Start where you stand.

The world won’t care about your old defeats
If you can start anew and win success;
The future is your time, and time is fleet
And there is much of work and strain and stress;
Forget the buried woes and dead despairs,
Here is a brand-new trial right at hand,
The future is for him who does and dares,
Start where you stand.

Old failures will not halt, old triumphs aid,
To-day’s the thing, to-morrow soon will be;
Get in the fight and face it unafraid,
And leave the past to ancient history,
What has been, has been; yesterday is dead
And by it you are neither blessed nor banned;
Take courage, man, be brave and drive ahead,
Start where you stand.

Poetry : Don’t Quit by John Greenleaf Whittier

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is strange with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a failure comes about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell just how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit
